Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist. She has been reporting for over 45 years focusing on the human suffering in the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry reported on wars from Kosovo, Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo. Ann Curry (born on November 19th, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American anchor, reporter on television as well as a journalist. She was most famous for being a correspondent of The Today Show, a morning news program that was broadcast by National Broadcasting Co. Curry was well-known for her reporting on natural disasters and humanitarian crises which occurred in war-ravaged areas. Curry's father served as a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. After World War II, her parents met during her father's service in Japan. Her father served in the military, so her family moved around often. Curry was able to complete her high schooling at Ashland Oregon. Curry graduated in 1978, with the degree of Bachelor's in Journalism in the University of Oregon. Her exposure to a variety of cultures and experiences in her early years probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to global issues. They moved frequently, so Curry was not confined to one place for more than two years, and she traveled to different places like San Diego Alameda Oregon and Virginia. Ashland was her last high school. Her broadcasting career began as an internship at KTVL Channel 10 Medford in Oregon. At age 22 she became the first journalist female for the station. In Portland the state of Oregon, she was appointed anchor as well as a reporter for KGW which is NBC's subsidiary. Four years later she moved into Los Angeles as a reporter for KCBS-TV. During her six-year relationship with KCBS the station, she won two Emmy Awards.
